AM reception seems to have low sensitivity due to the obvious small size of the ferrite antenna
FM stations do pretty well on average. Listen to one of the “major” shortwave broadcasters with a booming signal into your part of the world – you can’t beat it for this price point.
The audio that comes from this little radio is awesome! Nice bass response! Strangely enough the audio via the earphone does not seem to have all that bass. No stereo either.
The recordings are very good and do have stereo of course. So listening to MP3's or recording them can be enjoyed with stereo headphones!
Mod for your Radio!!!
MOD noise [SOLVED]
Has a high background noise or hiss like interference on SW andAM. Probaly the internal circuitry (most likely the display) wascausing this interference.
Second possibility could be the battery type of brand related(internal resistance of the battery).
Anyway, this problem is fixable:
Decouple the power/battery with a electrolitic capacitor ofaround 10uF (between 4.7...22uF will do) soldered to the batteryconnector (inside the radio).
I also grounded thespeaker (center pin is the chassis of the speaker)
connect a little wire from the metal housing of the speaker tothe ground of the pcb (I used the position next to C22). Not sureif this is needed, but it wont hurt.
